24th Jan - The Flavel Dartmouth

Come and learn to play a traditional West African Djembe rhythm - No experience necessary! Starting from scratch, through games and activities, you will learn fundamental techniques in order to create uplifting, authentic rhythms. As a group, we will create a polyrhythmic montage of sound using a range of instruments including djembes, dun dun bass drums, bells and shakers. Expect BIG Beats, Big Breaks and lots of laughs.

£15 Adults per session or buy 3 and pay £12.50 per session. Family sessions are £15 per person including one child and then £5 per extra child.

Create joyful memories together at our Parent & Young Children’s West African Drumming Workshop at The Yard Creative Space. A session designed for parents just as much as their children. This playful, hands-on experience supports early childhood development while giving parents the chance to relax, reconnect, and enjoy making music alongside their little ones. Through rhythm, movement, and shared play, families build coordination, listening skills, confidence, and emotional bonds, leaving with lasting memories and a deeper sense of connection long after the drums fall silent.

Part of the Pavilions Teignmouth Wellbeing Weekend – Feel Good this February with our events aimed to uplift, inspire, energise, motivate, or simply to relax you!

Rhythms for Renewal – West African Drumming with Drum Devon.

Drumming can support wellbeing through improving focus, enhancing co-ordination, releasing endorphins and providing grounding. Join us for this dynamic, rhythmic practice that is both fun and therapeutic.

18th Feb - Family Drumming Workshop

Half-Term drumming fun-times for the whole family! Join us for a rhythmic adventure the whole family will love.

Explore the joy of West African drumming together in our family-friendly workshop. This hands-on session promises fun, laughter, and plenty of beats to groove to. Through rhythm games and call and response, we will develop the most infectious groove between us.

No experience necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and get ready to make music memories with your loved ones.


£15.00 for one adult and one child to attend together, £5.00 per each additional child attending with the same family group.

Booking fee per transaction – £1 online or telephone sales, 50p at the Box Office.

This lively drumming group with have you grooving in no time at all. During the 6 weeks we will delve into an array of authentic West African djembe rhythms. Learn technique, get in the groove and let the rhythm take you away. 

On this course you'll also gain access to digital resources of the rhythms and recordings of our sessions.

These workshops are open to all, whether you're a seasoned drummer or a complete beginner. Everyone can play!

Be part of something AMAZINGand join Teignbridge’s community samba band!

In this high-energy 6-week course, you’ll play bold Brazilian samba rhythms rooted in West African traditions, using instruments like caixa, surdo, repinique, agogô bells and djembe.

14th March - Intro to Samba Rhythms

Ever fancied joining a samba band? Come and discover the wonderful world of Samba Reggae. If you enjoy this session, then you could always come and join our Drum Devon marching band! Playing on a range of instruments, including snares, congas, surdos, bells and shakers, we’ll put together an infectious Brazilian carnival groove complete with breaks, intros and improvisation. No experience necessary! Starting from scratch, you will learn basic fundamental techniques which will have you grooving in no time. The previous session was so much fun, by the end we had managed to create a fully functioning marching samba band! All workshops come with access to digital resources and a recording of our final piece. Big beats, Big breaks and lots of laughs. Come and have some fun with us!
